Indian Army - 16th Punjab Regiment Large White Metal Helmet Plate Pagri Badge
A large white metal finely cast theatre-made badge in the form of a crowned Maltese cross, behind which is a Muslim crescent, bearing a Sikh quoit with ‘16’ to centre. “PUNJAB REGT” below, with two small original copper loops to the reverse (north-south). Circa 53mm tall. This is the same pattern and size as worn by officer's on the pagri from 1922 onwards but this is theatre cast in white metal with two original small copper loops to the reverse (north-south).
The 16th Punjab Regiment was a regiment of the British Indian Army from 1922 to 1947. It was transferred to Pakistan Army on Partition of India in 1947. In 1956, the regiment was amalgamated with other regiments to form The Punjab Regiment.
