In very good condition with no damage to the enamel and minimal wear. Original horseshoe fitting and maker marked Thomas Fattorini Ltd, Regent St, Birmigham and stamped with the issue number"24" to reverse of crescent. King's crown.

The First Police Reserve, dated from 1911, and comprised of retired police officers who had volunteered to serve again in an emergency in either peace or war. It was a small force and by 1945 there were only just over 2,000 First Reserves in the whole of the UK. Similar in style to the range of special constable lapel badges which had been approved in March 1939, this pattern was worn as a generic /universal issue.
