Sand cast plated cap badge depicting an armed native tribesman upon a camel above a tablet bearing the letters "S.D.F." with original central screw post with retaining nut to reverse. Circa 4.4cms tall. In good overall condition.

The Sudan Defence Force (SDF) was a British Army unit formed in 1925, as its name indicates, to maintain the borders of the Sudan under the British administration. During WW2, it also served beyond the Sudan in the East African Campaign and in the Western Desert Campaign.
