WW1 The Royal Scots Other Ranks Brass Economy Cap Badge

In good condition, correct gap between the top of the head and oval rim, nicely shaped badge with two original long loops (slight twisting) to the reverse (with splayed foot at base as found on Tiptaft made Scottish and Canadian badges). This was the only Scottish Regiment to have an all brass economy issued. Also the only WW1 economy badge for all regiments issued with loops as opposed to a slider (the War Office specified in an order dated 17th April 1916 that they wanted all their new "all GM" cap badges to have a "vertical shank" (=slider)). in June 1916 there was an initial War Office order for 20,000 all gilding metal Royal Scots badges, and there may well have been more orders later in the War.

There are two patterns of this known, one with bushy sideburns and the other without (see my item 66751). This is the bushy sideburns version.
