Scottish Edinburgh Academy OTC / JTC (junior Training Corps) White Metal Cap Badge - Type 2 Design

Die struck in white metal and circa 43mm in diameter. In very good condition with sharp detail. Two original copper loops to the reverse. A scarce badge in lovely condition. Head of Homer surrounded by Greek text and a row of laurel wreaths. The Greek legend around the bust of Plato translates roughly as "Education is the mother of wisdom and virtue". This is the pattern with shows the Greek poet Homer with a larger head and with less laurel leaf decoration on the circlet. See my item 67857 for the other pattern of this badge. It is not known chronologically as to which badge was worn first. Any information welcome.
