British Army Trained Nurse Breast / Pocket 'Dustbin Lid' Badge
Made from unmarked nickel silver with a black / darkened oxidised finish. With original and functional pin fitting. The design consists of the Royal Crest (QEII crown) superimposed on crossed swords in the centre, around which is inscribed ‘Army Trained Nurse’, followed by a Wreath of laurel round the edge of the badge. Often referred to as the 'Dustbin Lid' due to it's size. A tricky badge to find and scarcer than the equivalent Dental Hygienists badge. Circa 43mm in diameter. In very good condition and with sharp detail.
Trained Army Nurse badge, authorised in 1955. Entitlement: RAMC and QARANC personnel who passed the Army Trained Nurses' examination at the conclusion of a three year course in military hospitals. They were allowed to be retained by the recipient. Ceased to be issued in 1972.
