Mid- Victorian Pewter Pint Tankard - Relief Decoration Depicts 1860s Style Rifle Volunteers On Exercise
A decorated panel in relief on the outside face of the tankard shows some 1860s style Rifle Volunteers marching in the countryside and shooting, with a dog watching on. Some marks to reverse of base. Not sure It holds liquid without leaking (final photo inside is still damp from the test). I think it is best used as a display piece but that is up to you. Early French kepi style hats suggests 1859 - 1870 period. Dulled finsh but in good condition with no unattractive dents or dings. A very well made tankard of good weight.
