2nd Volunteer Battalion (VB) The Queen's Royal Regiment (West Surrey) Officer's Blackened Collar Badge

A die cast bronze right facing collar badge which has been blackened. The 1st VB officers wore this for a short time in a bronze finish, presumably from 1902 with the introduction of Service Dress and the 2VB officer's are assumed by Churchill to have worn this also but blackened. The torse is distinctively long on both figs 68 and 69 compared to the regulars' badges. Circa 1902 - 1908 only. Scarce.

Churchill Fig 68 and p24 refer.
