Die struck with two original D shaped loops the reverse, a UK made badge. Worn by all ranks of the 9th Battalion Royal Tank Regiment on the left upper arm. In very good condition with sharp detail. Circa 4cms wide and 3.2cms tall. Scarce.

Originally awarded to the WWI 9th Battalion Royal Tank Regiment by the French 3rd Infantry Division's commander, General Bourgon, for service at the Battle of Souvillers in July 1918. The badge, that of the French 3rd Infantry Division incorporates the legend ‘Qui s’y frotte, s’y brule’ which translates to ‘Touch me, and you burn’. When the 9th Battalion Royal Tank Regiment was formed in 1940 the badge was restored as part of its tradition.
