Gilt bright, enamel intact (some thinness in application to the numbers in the centre), the white is flash on the word battalion. Original and fully functional pin fittings.

The 217th Battalion, CEF was based in Moosomin, Saskatchewan, the unit began recruiting in early 1916 throughout the district. After sailing to England in June 1917, the battalion was absorbed into the 19th Reserve Battalion on 9th June , 1917.
