10th Princess Mary's Own Gurkha Rifles Officer's Peaked Cap - Attributed
A 10th Princess Mary's Own Gurkha Rifles Officers 'Jack Johnson' Cap in good worn condition. Only issues are a very small amount of damage to cloth on front of peak and very slight pull to cloth on the crown, but these are small issues and otherwise in very good condition and complete with metal badge for the 10th GR mounted on a beehive black corded boss, black patent leather chin strap and a pair of 10 GR side / chin strap buttons. Inside leather sweat band marked with maker "Herbert Johnson Ltd, New Bond Street". The cap is made from high quality doeskin. Size not marked. This pattern worn until 1st July 1994. Inside liner quite clear and the leather sweat band has the initials of the officer in gold leaf block lettering "R N B Mc G". An interesting attributable cap worthy of further research. Scarce.
The 10th GR's were amalgamated with the 2nd King Edward VII's Gurkha Rifles (The Simoor Rifles), 6th Queen Elizabeth Own Gurkha Rifles and 7th Duke of Edinburgh's Own Gurkha Rifles on 1st July 1994 to create the Royal Gurkha Rifle Regiment.
