Royal Defence Corps (GV) 2nd Pattern Brass Cap Badge - Smith & Wright Ltd

Formed in 1916 and rebranded in 1936. With original slider (folded over as often found into a hairpin) with the correct format fort he maker's details Smith & Wright Ltd, Birmingham. During WW1 they provided many of the personnel needed to man PoW camps. For the EDVIII issue the Corps underwent a change of title to the National Defence Company (see item 64683 above).

There is speculation that the hairpin slider was made as such for this to be worn either in the hat or the lapel buttonhole. In unissued condition.
