Northumberland Fusiliers Other Ranks Brass Gilding Metal Slouch Hat / Pagri Badge

A khaki or grey felt slouch hat often worn with a badge on the upturned side. Circa 1900. Similar to the glengarry badge in size, this was a different design to these, with laurel leaves on a circlet in plate of the motto strap. They are also characterised by the long slider attached via a strengthening strip between the flames and the neck of the grenade for wear on the pagri (see note 19 on page 69 of the reference below. This example has had the slider crudely shortened to about half its original length. Dark toned and apart from the slider shortening mentioned, in good overall condition. No returns on this item, sold 'as seen'.
