South Africa - 4th Mounted Rifles Sun Hat / Slouch Hat Badge / Shoulder Title

Die cast in brass with two original loops. Cox states this title was worn as a regimental flash on the side of the helmet. In very good condition. Scarce.

Fought in the German South African campaign during WW1 as part of the 8th Mounted Brigade. Formed by the amalgamation of the Umvoti Mounted Rifles and the Zululand Mounted Rifles.

Cox No 3117 refers ( I also note that various sources on line attribute this to the Canadian equivalent, but I am not sure that this is corrrect).
