WW2 South African - Natal Field Artillery (NFA) / AA (Anti-Aircraft) Section Embroidered Felt Cloth Insignia
Removed from uniform, some corner wear to shoulder title on top right edge, otherwise in good condition. The supplementary AA patch is in artillery colours but with some sun fade to the red lettering otherwise in very good condition and rare.
Purchased together in South Africa. Owner states the SA dealer claimed that the AA was worn as a supplementary title on the arm below the woven shoulder title by the NFA, so would like to keep them together. The South African Corps of Artillery which included the Natal Field Artillery provided field, medium, anti-tank and anti-aircraft units.
During the Second World War, the regiment formed part of the 2nd South African Division and was captured during the fall of Tobruk. After some desparate fighting, the entire Natal Field Artillery Regiment was captured and would not be re-formed until after the war ended.
