WW2 Royal Artillery Maritime Ant-Aircraft Artillery Woven Silk Formation Sign (First Pattern) - Battle of Atlantic

The first pattern formation sign, removed from uniform, remains of sticky pad to reverse otherwise in good condition. This badge was actually designed by Lt Col Howard Cole who was the author of several books on British army cloth badges.

Worn by maritime anti-aircraft soldiers allocated to defend merchant shipping the Battle of the Atlantic. Replaced in October 1942 by the new sign listed as my item 65900.

BoBD (Jon Mills) No 1273 refers.
