3rd Hampshire Hants Militia Officer's Enamel, Gilt and Silver Plated Collar Badge

A rare cast collar badge of two part construction with two orginal dark toned loops to the reverse. The rose in red and green enamel on a gilt rose surrounded by an open at top laurel wreath in silver plate. This is the more compact pattern and design as worn by officers of the Hampshire Militia's 3rd Battalion from 1881, and Churchill notes this was only for a short time. Circa 3.6cm across. In very good condition with no damage to the enamel.
