Scottish Edinburgh Academy OTC / JTC (Junior Training Corps) White Metal Cap Badge - Type 1 Design

Die struck in white metal and circa 43mm in diameter. In very good condition with sharp detail, but with a very small stain to front. Two original copper loops to the reverse (some service wear to these, but fully functional). A scarce badge in lovely condition. It depicts the head of the Greek poet Homer surrounded by Greek text and two rows of laurel wreaths. The Greek legend around the bust of Plato translates roughly as "Education is the mother of wisdom and virtue". This is the pattern with a more decorative edge and shows Homer with a smaller head than the other pattern of this badge (See my item 67857). It is not known chronologically as to which badge was worn first. Any information welcome.
