Indian Auxiliary Force Army - Calcutta Scottish Silver Plated One Piece Shoulder Title

A scarce silver plated UK made pattern with two silvered loops to the reverse.

The Calcutta Scottish was a regiment of volunteers of Scottish descent raised in 1914 as an infantry regiment of the British Indian Army. The regiment formed part of the army reserves of the Auxiliary Force, India (AFI). The regimental dress uniform of this kilted regiment was Hunting Stewart tartan. The regiment was disbanded following India's independence in 1947.

During the Second World War, members of the Calcutta Scottish formed part of the clandestine force raised from resident British expatriate volunteers that carried out the successful S.O.E. directed attack and crippling of a German commerce raider - 'spy-ship' - that had been violating the neutrality of the Portuguese Indian colonies of Dieu & Goa, and generally posing a threat to British interests in the Arabian Sea & Indian Ocean.
