Rare and Original Lothian & Border Horse Yeomanry Other Ranks Cap Badge

A rare badge, worn from 1908 when the Imperial was removed and soon after replaced by just the plain garb or wheatsheaf without the scroll (Gaylor p89 refers) This one has had its slider neatly removed and replaced with a pin fitting, either as a sweetheart, or possibly for wear by one of their pipers (pure speculation on my part - any info welcome). There are a number of differences in the design of this badge from the numerous copies. A lovely die struck example, finely detailed and as per the example in K&K Vol 1 No 1466. Just one pointer, although there are many, note the horizontal '&'. On the copies the '&' is almost vertical.
