1st Battalion The Manchester Regiment Large Cast Brass Musicians Bandsmans Music Case Pouch Badge, circa 1881

A large sold cast brass musicians badge with a gilt finish to front. The fleur-de-lys is quite decorative if a little but roughly cast with two large integral tombstone style fixings to the reverse. Circa 6.6cms tall and 5.5cms wide. This badge is depicted in an article in "The Kingsman Magazine" concerning the various designs of the fleur-de-lys worn by the Regiment. I do not know the date but I can provide a copy of the page. Rare.
