WW1 Ambulance Column London Bronzed Collar Badge

A die struck bronzed collar badge with two original loops to the reverse. The Geneva Cross on a shield to the centre of an oval title, " Ambulance Column " within a wreath of laurel bearing the scroll, " London Dist. " Rare.

The badges were issued by the War Office. The badges ensured that members of the Column were admitted to those parts of the mainline railway stations that were off limits to the general public when the trains carrying wounded soldiers arrived in London.
