WW2 Battle Dress Tunic Royal Engineers Officer 1st Corps- dated 1943

In superb condition for age. Woven pips for the rank of 2nd Lieutenant. Embroidered officer quality shoulder titles and embroidered 1st Corps Royal Engineer Formation Signs to each arm (white spear-head on a red and blue diamond worn by Royal Engineers attached to 1st Corps, British Army, but also worn by 11th RE Group). Original buttons and buckle, all present and correct, with lanyard. Label confirms date of manufacture as Jan 6th,1943 and made by Phoenix Clothes Inc. No moth. Stamped Size 6 below label. The only fault I can find is some small barely noticeable slits in the epaulettes presumably for metal rank pips and also in the collars made no doubt for unofficial metal collar badges.

1st Corps took part in D Day landings.

1st British Corps Battle order – June 6th, 1944 – Battle of Normandy:

Inn of Court RAC Regiment
62nd Anti-tank Regiment
102nd Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment
9th Cartography RA Regiment
1st Engineering Corps

Cole p140 refers for formation sign.
