Royal Irish Fusiliers (RIF) Officers Sterling Silver Collar Badge, No 1 Dress
Circa 3.9cms tall, with two copper loops to the reverse. under the top of the first lug is a stamp and I can only read the letters ....rling, which it is save to assume stands for "Sterling". The makers mark appears also to be TL.. , most probably TLM (Thomas Lynton Mott) who are most noted for making high quality sweetheart brooches. However, this badge matches the pattern exactly as shown in Churchill who states it was sealed in 1949 for wear by Officers on No 1 Dress in silver plate.
Churchill No 1797 refers (but this one sterling silver rather than silver plate)
