Durham Light Infantry (DLI) Regimental Journal October 1953 Issue, Vol 7 No 51 - Korean War / Queens Coronation
A good tight clean copy. Some minor wear to card covers otherwise in great condition. Sections reporting on the activities of the 1st, 2nd, 6th, 8th and 17th Parachute Regiment ( 9DLI). It also has reports on the 1st, 5th and 13th cadet battalions and of the South Shields Tattoo.
In particular the journal summarises the 10 months of fighting by the First Battalion in the Korean War, with one month left to serve and the Truce signed, with 9 pages dedicated to their time and listing the awards granted.
It also covers the coronation medals awarded to the 8th Bn and the 17th Parachute Regiment (9 DLI), plus some photos of the various Coronation contingents.
But best of all for me at least is the wonderful front cover showing the Faithful Cap.
