Full size original plaque or Dead Man's Penny, named to William Feather. Wide H in "He" variety with the "W" for Woolwich Arsenal on the reverse. In very good condition.
There is only one 'William Feather' on the CWGC site as a casualty. The CWGC site states that this is 1787 Private William Feather 1st/6th Battalion Duke of Wellington's (West Riding Regiment) who died on the 5th July 1916, presumably during the Battle of the Somme and is remembered on the Thiepval Memorial as he has no known grave.
The MIC card confirms KIA 5th July 1916 as a Private and notes his unit as the West Riding Regiment, and the service number is 6/1787 is confirmed. Entered the France & Flanders Theatre (1) on the 14th April 1915, and as such he is noted as being entitled to a 1914-15 Trio.
