5th Seaforth and Caithness Highlanders Territorial Battalion Officers Large Pattern Silver Plated Button

Circa 24mm in diameter, fixed shank. A heavy quality button made by Jennens & Co, London. In good condition.

The battalion was first formed in 1859, early in the Volunteer movement, by the Duke of Sutherland and took as its badge, the Sutherland Crest (the Wild Cat), with the proud motto "Sans Peur". When the Territorial Force was formed, the battalion changed its name to the 5th (Sutherland and Caithness) Seaforth Highlanders. Disbanded 1946.
