Hampshire Regiment Officers Enamel Silver and Gilt Cap Badge converted for wear with a slider
A very fine looking cap badge of two part construction with loops neatly removed to the reverse and a plate professionally added to facilitate its wear with a slider. Red velvet backing to crown. Became Royal in 1946 but this pattern was worn until 1949. In great condition with no damage to enamels. Stunning. Circa 47mm tall.
"Badge Backings & Special Embellishments of the British Army" (p132) confirms that Warrant Offices Class 1 / The RSM wore an officer's badge. Perhaps this was his badge converted for wear in an other ranks beret?
