21st (Empress of India 's) Lancers Victorian Mess Waiters Large Gilt Button
Circa 27mm in diameter, semi domed with fixed shank to reverse, flat topped QVC crown and crossed lances with VRI monogram to centre. There would only have half a dozen or so mess room orderlies wearing these buttons and they would have been bought using Regimental funds. Minor service wear, gilt bright. Maker marked Firmin & Sons Ld, 108 St Martin's Lane. London. Circa 1897 onwards only, as prior to 1897 the regiment were still designated as Hussars. Scarce button.
