WW1 - 12th (Australian) Company, 3rd Battalion, Imperial Camel Corps Theatre Made Cut Brass One Piece Shoulder Title
A scarce 12th (Australian) Company, 3rd Battalion, Imperial Camel Corps locally made shoulder title with two original copper loops to the reverse (bent over but still functional).
There were four battalions raised:
Actually a Brigade, they were better known as a Corps. It was in existence from December 1916 to June 1918.
First Battalion recruited from Australian Light Horse
Second Battalion recruited from British Yeomanry Regiments
Third Battalion recruited from Australian Light Horse
Fourth Battalion: two companies from Australian Light Horse and two companies from New Zealand Mounted Rifles (No 15 and 16 Companies).
The only source I can find online to a 12th company is given below:
"We were sorry for the camels. Although we often cursed them, when they were to be taken away from us, we found that we had become quite attached to our ugly, ungainly mounts. The Arabs would not treat them as kindly as we had done, and we reckoned they were entitled to a long spell in country that suited them better than the rough and slippery mountain tracks of Palestine."
Trooper Frank Reid, No 12 (Australian) Company, 3rd Battalion, Imperial Camel Corps

There is a similar title to the 15th Company listed in Oldham's "Badges and Insignia of the New Zealand Army" p109 item 12/13.
