Early Grenadier Guards Other Ranks Valise Badge William IV, 1830 - 1837
A large and heavily die struck gilded brass valise other ranks badge of the Grenadier Guards with the cypher for King William the Fourth (who predated Queen Victoria) with four old contemporary replacement loops. The original patterns had three iron loops and these valise badges are found with either no loops due to corrosion or with replacements, as per this one. Circa 10.7cm tall and 8.1cm wide. Some marks consistent with age but in very good condition. A smasher!
