WW2 Orkney and Shetland Defences (OSDEF) / 227th Independent Infantry Brigade Embroidered Formation Sign

Removed from uniform. Red fouled anchor on a dark blue rectangle. In good condition.

For the former, composed of mainly Ant--Aircraft and Coast Defence Gunners and infantry adopted this nautical design given their close association with the defence of the naval base at Scapa Flow. Cole p105 refers.

For the latter, became part of 15th Infantry Division in September 1943. Morris part 1, p66 figure 72 refers.
