WW1 Silver War Badge (SWB) to Oswald Mark Peters, Squadron Sergeant Major, Army Service Corps (ASC)

SWB officially impressed B35286 awarded to Temporary S.S.M Oswald Mark Peters, Army Service Corps. An unmarked silver circlet inscribed 'For King And Empire Services Rendered' bearing crowned 'GRI' Imperial Cypher to voided centre. In very good condition, dark toned, original C clasp and pin. Circa 32mm in diameter. Copy of CD version of SWB roll entry and copy of WW1 Medal Index Card (MIC) to be supplied.

T2SR/02907 Temp Squadron Sergeant Major Oswald Mark Peters did not serve overseas. He enlisted on 13th February 1915 and was discharged on 2nd November 1918 due to sickness, aged 37. A note on his MIC states this sickness was due to “neurasthenia,” or weakness of the nerved caused by M.S. (multiple sclerosis). This was most probably his only medal.

Approximately 1,150,000 badges were issued to all services, which had to be claimed and then approved.
