19th Foot (Green Howards / Yorkshire Regiment) Other Ranks Collar Badge, 1875 - 1881 only

Die struck brass collar with two original lugs to the reverse. In very condition and with a pattern of coronet or crown unique to the 19th Regiment (as opposed to the flatter and wider crown worn by other infantry regiments pre 1878 - see my item 60673). Circa 2.2cm wide and 1.7cm tall. Scarce.

In 1881 the 19th Foot became the Green Howards ( Yorkshire Regiment).

Churchill No 559 refers (although he depicts the slightly larger pattern worn by officers).

See the final photo for a comparison between the 19th Foot pattern on the right and for sale here and the more generic infantry pattern crown worn by such units as the 11th (Devonshire) Regiment of Foot for sale above.

See item 57432 for an ultra scarce pair of officer's fire gilt collar badges of the same pattern.
