The Hampshire Regiment Matched Pair of Amber on Black Embroidered Cloth Shoulder Titles
Pre 1946, a lovely pair of matching unofficial coloured regimental shoulder titles, removed from uniform but in very good condition, except for slight moth nip to the bottom edge of one. Colours bright.
Initially worn in the 128 (Hampshire) Infantry Brigade by 1//4th, 2/4th and 5th Territorial Battalions of the Hampshire Regiment from 1940 onwards. The practice of wearing these subsequently spread to other battalions of the regiment (and to other regiments). The practice was not sanctioned officially until 1952.
The 7th Battalion formed part of operation Market Garden in September 1944.
Davis No 315 refers.
