Airborne Wandeltochte Police Sports Association Renkum souvenir medal - Commemorating the Liberation of the Netherlands September 1944

A good original early pattern 'Airborne Walking Tour bronze participants medal', the obverse displaying an embossed Pegasus emblem and suspended from a silk maroon ribbon. Very good condition. Circa 27mm in diameter.

The annual Airborne Walking Tour was started in 1947 to honour those who fought for the liberation of the Netherlands in the September 1944. It is a tribute to the 1,700 and more British and Polish parachutist soldiers who died and were buried in the Battle of Arnhem at the Airborne Cemetery in Oosterbeek, Netherlands.
