The Essex Regiment two part 1st Pattern Helmet Plate Centre ( HPC) Glengarry Badge with original backing plate and correct Victorian Crown

A scarce Two tower helmet plate centre (HPC) with separate Crown mounted on original brass backing plate. 3 out of 4 loops to HPC (long central loop removed), and correct hoop loops to reverse of crown. A smart looking badge worn circa 1881-1896.

The brass plate was used to facilitate the wear of helmet plate centres on the glengarry and comprised of a separate Crown (K&K 288) mounted on shaped brass backing plate (K&K 289).
