WW2 War Raised Unit - 27th Lancers Bi-Metal Cap Badge - Firmin

Bi-metal with original slider to reverse stamped Firmin London. No damage to the lances or lance pennons. Short strengthening bars fitted to lance pennons behind slider.

The Regiment was raised in December 1940 and took the elephant's head won by the 27th Light Dragoons in the Mahratta War of 1803. There were two patterns of this cap badge, one with the elephant's head in white metal and the rest in brass and another pattern with the lower half of the lance pennons in white metal. All six wartime cavalry regiments were disbanded in June 1948.
