RASC Air Dispatch Printed Dakota Formation Sign, post WW2
Right or outward facing large square, circa 8.5cm by 8.5cmm, yellow Dakota on blue background. Has some age to it but in un-issued condition.
The air despatch companies of the Royal Army Service Corps wore this formation sign in facing pairs on both arms or on the central pocket of the overalls.
The outward facing version for wear on right arm does not have the access door on the side. This is also the rounded tail fin version, which is believed to a post-war modification to the original design. The Air Despatch Patch was authorised on 9th September, 1944, following Arnhem - during the battle, 116 Air Despatchers had been killed.
