33rd ( Ardwick ) Lancashire Volunteer Rifles NCOs Pouch Belt Plate

An attractive and scarce sergeant 's blackened die struck pouch belt plate with three original screw posts to the reverse. Some light rippling from wear and a small but very neat repair to the small square at the top of the crown which has been neatly re-affixed. Does not detract. Worn 1860 - 1880.

The 33rd were renumbered the 20th Lancashire Rifle Volunteers in 1880 and were the ancestors of the 5th ( Ardwick ) Volunteer Battalion The Manchester Regiment from 1888.
