A WW1 Christmas 1914 postcard from King George V ( in Army Uniform ) and Queen Mary for Overseas Troops
As well as the 1914 Christmas Gift Box, another Royal gift distributed to the BEF and Royal Navy on Christmas Day was a sepia coloured postcard. It carried a printed&8209;photograph (by W & D Downey ) of the King and Queen. On the back of it was this message, "With our best wishes for Christmas 1914. May God protect you and bring you home safe'. In very good condition, except for a slight pressure crease near the left hand side of Queen Mary's head. No central fold as sometimes found from storage in the gift box. Scarce.
