Scarce WW1 Home Front item - Ration Book, partially used

It is easy to forget that rationing was also a major feature of live on the home front in WW1. The indiscriminate and relentless German U-Boat campaign against merchant shipping in 1917 almost brought this country to its knees.

This ration book was issued in 1918 to Annie Dent of Bellingham. There is some damage to it (coupons torn out) but coupon stamps remain for essential food goods such as meat, lard, butter and margarine.
