WW1 Silver War Badge ( SWB ) - Stamped 242736 - Lynch, Tyneside Irish ( 25th Battalion Northumberland Fusiliers ).

Silver War Badge, dark toned, pin broken and clasp squashed shut. SWB roll included which confirms it was awarded to
Private Joseph Lynch, 25/352 of the 2nd Tyneside Irish. Enlisted 16/11/1914, discharged 27th January 1917 from the depot. Date suggests he was a Somme casualty. Also listed in John Sheen's book " Tyneside Irish " on page 231. Listed as A Company, wounded in October 1916, and transferred to Depot. Home address is given as 16 Morgan Street, Sunderland, County Durham.

According to Redmond et al's "Irish Heroes in the War" (which Lynch is also listed in as serving with A Company), the 2nd Tyneside Irish were authorised on 10th November 1914, and most of the men had enlisted within a day of it.
