4th ( Uganda ) King's African Rifles ( KAR ) Officer's Silver Pagri Cap Badge - Maker marked Dobbies

A rare officer's solid silver cap badge (stamped silver) with original pin fitting for wear on the pagri. Also has a small loop fitted for a safety chain, no longer present. Maker marked Dobbies Ltd on the reverse. See Renfrew et al, Vol 1, page 97 for a photograph of an officer wearing this pattern in his cap. Circa 4.3cm tall.

I believe Dobbies were a South African jewellers. I have seen another badge made by them, a 1941 dated South African Air Force pilot's wing.
