Printed WW2 cloth formation sign. White Viking ship (facing to the left) and sunrise printed on light blue rectangle. Removed from uniform. Worn for a short period of time only at end of WW2.
In May 1945, following the German surrender in Norway on the 7th May, the 1st and 2nd SAS Brigades were sent to Norway to disarm the 300,000 German garrison. Other units entitled to wear this flash were members of 1st Airborne Division under Urquhart, the 50th Northumbrian Division and the 88th Group RAF. Scarce.
