WW1 Bombardment of Hartlepool 1914 commemorative Gilt and Enamel Pin Brooch Badge 1917

A scarce gilt metal and enamel badge issued by the Hartlepool hospital fund every year of the great war 1914-1919 to raise funds and commemorate the bombardment of Hartlepool on December 16th 1914 by the German Navy. There were a number of different patterns. This one was issued for 1917, and the text is as follows:

"Thanks offering to the Hospitals of the Hartlepools".

Good condition, gilt bright with, bar firing faults, no enamel chips or damage (the mark on the cross is the camera flash), with standard pin fittings to the reverse (but this is possibly a contemporary replacement).
