Original 1959 Film Poster - Sea of Sand ( Mare de Sabbia) Rank Films Italian Cinema Release - Long Range Desert Group ( LRDG / SAS ) Special Forces interest

52 years ago this poster graced the lobby of an Italian cinema. In 1958 Carlton Films released "The Sea of Sand", a black and white North African war movie starring a young Richard Attenborough, John Gregson and Michael Craig. It is one of my favourite films (even though it is a bit wooden at times) as it gives a very accurate portrayal of the much under-rated Long Range Desert Group ( L.R.D.G. ), its role, uniforms and vehicles.

It is not huge, but measures 70 by 33cm. It is folded across the middle, it does have creases and wrinkles (but then at 52 years so do I !) and the photos make it look better than it is, The centre and edges on the reverse have been strengthened with masking tape. However, please remember these items were never venerated when put up in the cinemas and were usually torn-up when the film came off circulation. Looking for a good special forces interest home.
