WW1 Bombardment of Hartlepool 1915/16 commemorative Gilt and Enamel Pin Brooch Badge
A scrace gilt metal and enamel badge issued by the Hartlepool hospital fund every year of the great war 1914-1919 to raise funds and commemorate the bombardment of Hartlepool on December 16th 1914 by the German Navy. There were a number of differernt patterns. This one also acknowledges the part played by the men of the Durham Royal Garrison Artillery, as it bears the artillery cap badge, as follows:
"1915 - 1916 - Thankoffering to the Hartlepools hospitals - In memory of Dec 16th 1914".
Good condition with slight verdigris to gilt, but with no enamel chips or damage, with standard pin fittings to the reverse.
