78th Ross-shire Buffs forage cap pre 1881, modified
A 78th Ross-shire Buffs yellow brass die struck forage cap badge with three dark toned loops to the reverse but with the top number '78' removed.
This pattern was worn prior to 1881, but this one has had the '78' which was located at the top of the scroll Assaye neatly removed. The originally the badge would have been 57x55 mm but is now 57 mm wide and 42mm tall. Perhaps modi... read more

An excellent pouch badge, with two original loops. Post 1881 until amalgamation, found voided and unvoided, this being the latter. A large badge at 6.5cms tall. A large and attractive 3 part constructed bonnet badge for a Sergeant Piper of the Scots Guards in a die struck frosted silver plate garter and with an applied high gilt die cast central device as per the Regimental Sergeant's Star.
