Sturdy white metal example of an other ranks cap badge. This is Sutherland Cat "Tail Up" variety as per the earlier badges. it has a fretted centre with 9 voids. A good stiff badge with two original copper lugs to the reverse, which have quite a long splayed foot, but original nonetheless.

Made from bi-metal and in good condition with original slider to the reverse and five sweat / brazing holes to the reverse. This is the variety with straight scrolls and a broader coronet. Circa 4.2cm tall. In very good condition with sharp detail. Gaylor claims there was also an all brass economy version. The regiment was disbanded in 1922.

Small die struck with two original dark toned lugs to the reverse. The Rifle Brigade did not wear collar badges. This is often referred to as the four-scroll badge with Battle honours to Crimea only. Circa 3.2cm tall. This one with a Victorian Crown, also found with an imperial crown. In excellent condition with sharp detail.

Worn 1910 - 1937, carrying 16 battle honours (fourteen on the scroll) - 15 Peninsula War battle honour scrolls and Waterloo. The inner circlet is inscribed "Rifle Brigade". The regiment was finally entitled to 16 battle honours for the Peninsular war but "Pyrenees" was not granted until 1910 - after the badge was designed.
